Hood & Strong employees participated in the San Francisco Food Bank’s Farms to Families Project in which the San Francisco Food Bank receives federal grants to spend on gas money for trucks to go to farms and pick up donations of produce (produce that is the wrong shape or size for conventional markets and excess). The San Francisco Food Bank is able to get these grants and donations of produce as they have the volunteers to repack the produce allowing them to support over 400 local non-profit organizations. Our Hood & Strong volunteers packed 17,550 pounds of apples and oranges allowing the Food Bank to meet their orders for the next day along with their kids snack orders for the following week.
