As Hood & Strong moves into its 2nd century as a San Francisco Bay Area firm, we are honored to dedicate 2017 to the memory of our beloved partner, Milind Nagnoor.
We lost Milind on January 5, 2017, at the age of 46.
When Milind joined Hood & Strong in 2003, his excitement and energy was captivating. Even the most mundane of assignments as an audit manager would, for Milind, be an opportunity to expand his knowledge, make new acquaintances and grow in his role as a professional advisor.
When Milind was admitted into the Partnership on October 1, 2011, there was no question that his energy and desire to continually grow and expand his knowledge would serve him well as he became one of our most successful business developers and client service providers.
Milind had the unusual knack of being able to merge his love for auditing and accountancy into a very personal approach to his client service. His personal warmth and genuine concern for his clients was a hallmark of his service philosophy. He had a sign in his office that said “I’d rather be auditing…”
Prior to joining us, Milind had positions at KPMG and 7 years as an associate partner and chartered public accountant at R.M. Ajgaonkar & Co., an internationally recognized accounting firm in India. As an audit partner and advisor for Hood & Strong, his expertise covered financial audits, advisory services, operational and internal controls, due diligence and transaction reviews and forensic accounting services. He worked with portfolio companies and investment funds, biotech, nonprofit organizations and a wide variety of other industries. He had been closely affiliated with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Angels Group and was a former board member and audit committee chair of the Mount Diablo Region YMCA. He also volunteered at the East Bay Youth Cricket Association and was a member of the California Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
In the 2011 press release announcing his promotion to Partner, it was stated that “His understanding of the technology, venture capital and manufacturing and engineering sectors, combined with his own strong entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to community service, make him an outstanding Hood & Strong partner.”
But as we dedicate 2017 to Milind, we do not do so to honor just the professionally accomplished Milind, but, more importantly, the personal Milind. At his memorial service, H&S Partner John Jeffords, Milind’s mentor, spoke from his heart about Milind – his warmth, his kindness, his fortitude, his determination, his passion – that Milind was loved. Milind was loved greatly and we hope that this love continues to comfort his wife and children, because first and foremost, as Milind would consistently say, the real importance of life rests with family. While we mourn the loss of Milind as a friend and business compatriot, we also mourn for the loss of a loving and totally devoted husband, father, son, friend and mentor.
Milind and his family will always be a part of the H&S family.
